About Kenneth Sim

Hyun Sim · 심현

I work at the intersection of cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, networking and AI-enabled systems.

Background

My technical background began in network engineering and grew into cloud security engineering. That path shaped how I think about security: not as a collection of isolated products, but as a system of identities, networks, endpoints, policy, telemetry and human decisions that all have to work together.

I study computer science at Calvin University and continue to build and research across cybersecurity, networking, artificial intelligence and software systems. My current public work focuses especially on cloud security, SASE, zero-trust architecture, network security and the security of increasingly autonomous AI systems.

Security focus

Cloud security

Identity-aware access, cloud-delivered security controls, secure service architecture and operational visibility.

Networking

Routing, switching, segmentation, traffic flows and the practical network foundations that security systems depend on.

AI & autonomous systems

How AI changes both offensive and defensive security, and how autonomous tools can be constrained, monitored and made safer.

Research approach

I am interested in security problems where one defensive mechanism is not enough. My 2025 paper, A Unified Framework for Defending Against AI-Driven APTs, combines several defensive layers into one architecture rather than treating AI-enabled threats as a single-model problem.
